Sunny, 0% chance of rain, breezy from the north-northwest at around 11 mph. The dry stretch keeps going: Wednesday sunny and 74°/50°, Thursday mostly sunny and 74°/49°, then a warm-up into Friday (partly cloudy, 82°/56°) and Saturday (mostly sunny, 81°/54°). Heads up on the source: the NWS forecast page we normally use for Meridian's own point number was frozen on a September 20 forecast this run, so today's figure is the live Boise-area reading — Meridian has sometimes run a few degrees off Boise, so give yourself a little wiggle room either way. Sunrise is about 7:41 a.m., sunset about 7:29 p.m.

One item this cycle, and we'd rather tell you than pad it. We checked Idaho News 6, BoiseDev, KIVI, Idaho Press, the City of Meridian, the state police and the Ada County side, and nearly every fresh Meridian story from the last five days has already run in this newsletter; the one other new item was a Meridian woman's arrest tied to a death in Nampa, which we left out because the case is Nampa's.
Idaho State Police names a new chief for the office behind your background checks
Idaho State Police has named Sara Breckon the new Bureau Chief of its Bureau of Criminal Identification — the office that keeps criminal history records and fingerprint identification for law enforcement across Idaho, and runs the criminal justice information systems those agencies lean on. She's spent 12 years inside the bureau, most recently as its Audit and Training Team Supervisor, and she's certified to issue AMBER, Blue and Endangered Missing Person alerts statewide. ISP's announcement, published Sept. 25, is datelined Meridian.
Colonel Bill Gardiner's take: "Sara has shown the judgment, technical expertise, and leadership necessary to assume greater responsibilities. She works well with others and has earned respect." The release doesn't say who she's replacing. Her career before ISP includes a stint overseas that most people wouldn't guess — that part is in the full announcement.
