Hot and sunny is the theme all week. Highs push into the mid-to-upper 90s and flirt with 100° a couple of afternoons, with overnight lows back in the 60s. There's a slim (about 20%) chance of an evening thunderstorm midweek, but don't count on the relief. Headed to a concert or the Speedway? Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma are officially coming to The Village
It's real this time. Permits are filed and construction is underway for a nearly 11,700-square-foot Pottery Barn and a 5,550-square-foot Williams-Sonoma at The Village at Meridian — part of the center's long-awaited final expansion. The first wave of stores is expected to open around late September or October, with more before the holidays and the last round in early 2027. After being teased since 2018, the home-goods duo is finally breaking ground. Read more →
Hundreds of West Ada students will switch schools this fall
West Ada — Idaho's largest district, headquartered right here in Meridian — approved new attendance boundaries that move about 574 students to different schools for the 2026–27 year. The shuffle comes with the opening of the new Independence Elementary this fall, meant to ease overcrowding at Star Elementary and nearby schools; campuses affected include Meridian Middle and Owyhee High. The city wants to talk e-bikes — and police are stepping up enforcement
With e-bikes and e-motorcycles all over Meridian's parks, paths, and neighborhoods, the city has launched a safety campaign ahead of the school year — and officers are now issuing warnings, citations, and in some cases making arrests for unsafe or illegal riding. There's a public meeting tonight at 6 p.m. in City Hall Chambers to walk through the rules and what enforcement will look like. Worth a look if you've got a teen with a throttle. Read more →
Those new cameras around town? Here's what they are
You may have noticed new cameras going up at busy intersections. They're automated license plate readers — Meridian PD is installing them in high-traffic spots to help track stolen vehicles and investigate crimes, in line with a state law that sets rules for how the data can be used. Not traffic or speed cameras, and the department says footage isn't kept indefinitely. Read more →
