A note on where these numbers come from: the NWS point-forecast file we normally lead with has been frozen since Sept. 20 — the same numbers, byte-for-byte, on every check since. Today's figures instead come from a live, same-day update, checked against its own multi-day outlook.
It's a quiet one for hard news out of Meridian this week — most of what moved through the usual feeds already ran in earlier issues. Here's the one story that's genuinely new, verified, and unused.
A 71-home subdivision is waiting on its neighbor to build first
Storm Crest, a 71-home subdivision planned for west Meridian near Owyhee High School, has cleared its own approvals — and isn't going anywhere. The project shares its access and utilities with the neighboring Day Spring development, so Storm Crest can't break ground until Day Spring finishes its first phase and extends the pipes and roads next door. A longtime area resident told Idaho News 6 the pace of change is starting to wear on the neighborhood — "the traffic is horrible," they said — as the rural character that held for decades keeps shrinking one project at a time. 🧠 Trivia answer: Scentsy. The wickless-candle company got its start in Salt Lake City in 2003 as a small maker of "wick-less candles" under different owners. In 2004, Meridian's own Orville and Heidi Thompson bought the whole operation, moved it to Meridian, and relaunched it that July with the direct-sales model that turned it into a household name — by 2017 it was doing north of $450 million a year in sales worldwide, still headquartered right here.
